ok.... i'm not usually one to abandon efforts halfway. usually it would annoy me massively if i didn't get to see something through to the end. but like everything else, there are always exceptions.
so, just like in year 12 hsc, when i decided that modern history had to go, the same logic applies here. A backup that can't back anything up is not worth keeping as a backup. Now in this case, it is the Gundam ad that is going to have to be scrapped.
Sure it's a nice bit of Flash animation that took me hours in manually Illustrator-tracing, and Flash vector-pushing, but hear me out!
The reasons are as follows:
- it is seriously causing me a massive headache (literally and figuratively) trying to make the darn thing work. Nothing i try seems to be able to pull it all together.
- then i realised that "all" isn't really all that much. I've got about 8 seconds of really good animation, but no ideas for a scene to compile it into. The rest are just 3 second snippets that aren't going anywhere without properly planned scenes.
- I remembered the whole reason i was doing two separate ideas in the first place - that was because i thought that a minute for an ad was a bit much to keep the interest happening. but as it turns out, my other idea is taking up much more time to pan out than i had initially intended. Which is not a bad thing, cos the quality of work, i think, is much better on that one anyway.
- leading me to the fact that if i scrap the Gundam idea, i can focus my efforts on just the one idea. A well made clip is going to be better than a half-assed one and a rushed-through one put together.
That's about it really. Oh btw, i justify my actions to convince myself more than anything else, so if you're by chance reading this, thanks for listening! ;)
phew~ with that said, i think i can afford to breathe a little... *headache kicking in again*
