3D REALTIME MULTIMEDIA

Argh! Forgotten all the stuff I wanted to say! That’s why I should have put it down earlier rather than starting another assignment first! Oh well…

Ok, so the final clip is a collection of 4 short clips, different ways of cutting the scenes together (I think I’ve mentioned that before…) In terms of transitions, I used only simple transitions, because I didn’t want any flashy animation presets to outshine the footage I actually made! That, and flashy transitions didn’t really fit with the leisurely pace and subtle animations and effects of my clips anyway.

About the pacing, I wanted it quite leisurely, so it was my intention that some parts are a bit slow to start off with. Some transitions seem a little random, such as in the third clip where it cuts from a slow-paced, panning clip to a faster one with 3D camera movements… I’m undecided about whether this actually works. I suppose it kind of does, because there’s a bit of anticipation with the text “Radio Control like you’ve never….” and then the unpredictability of the quick-pace of the “seen it before” part.

I was only really experimental with the last clip, where I tested out splitting up the footage and layering it and blending it differently (I have posted up the experiments under Videos as well). I’m not entirely happy with the final clip. I liked the first 2 seconds or so, but I couldn’t find a way to recreate it in a way to carry it on throughout the whole clip. But it’s still ok I suppose.

Overall, I’m pretty happy with what I’ve done. The text makes it a little more informative and meaningful, and the scenes seem to work well together.

Oh, just as a note. The music for the final clip (with them all together) is for the purposes of making it more watchable only. Although it does seem to work really well.... perhaps *if* they were individual clips the music could be trimmed down to fit each one, but i'm not doing that so it's ok, just in theory i could you know! And I know there’s a 17 second blank screen at the beginning, but that was because I had pictured using this song for the clips, and I was quite set on when exactly they should come in :P (not that it matters much anyway!)

So... that’s it. Just awaiting submission date and details cos I can’t upload it here. It’s way over 100MB!

Coolness ^^

oh! that's another thing i wanted to say -

if my clips, and AE in general, weren't so RAM-consuming and computer-straining to render, i'd like to have animated movements of individual elements between the scenes as transitions, so that i wouldn't have had to use preset transitions at all. But my computer's a bit unstable at the moment, so i had to make do with rendering out scenes then cutting them together. Still, i think they worked out alright :)
